In Memoriam. - At the annual convention of the East Louisiana Baptist 
Association held at Colyell, Livingston parish, on Oct. 19 last, the 
following obituary, prepared by a committee composed of Miss Etta St. Amant, 
Mrs. M. L. Martin and George W. Rice, was read and ordered spread on the 
minutes of the meeting:

On February 26, 1907, our Heavenly Father saw fit to remove to a higher 
sphere of life our esteemed friend and brother, Solomon Barman, at the 
mature age of ninety years, five months and seventeen days.

"Bro. Barman was born in Germany September 9, 1816, and at the age of 
nineteen years left his native home and traveled on foot to Paris, France, 
from whence he came to St. Mary parish, in this state, where he heard his 
first gospel sermon. Subsequently Bro. Barman continued his journey to 
Ascension parish, where he resided continuously up to the time of his death. 
He united with the New River Baptist Church during the fifties and was 
ordained deacon on September 1, 1858, serving in that capacity until he was 
called into the Great Beyond. Among his last acts was the advocacy of a 
baptismal pool at the New River Church, which project is now nearing 
execution.

Bro. Barman leaves five sons, numerous other relatives and a host of 
friends to mourn his loss, to all of whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

SOLOMON BARMAN. - Donaldsonville, La., Feb. 27. - Solomon Barman, 90 years old,
died suddenly to-day at the home pf his son, Sam B. Barman at St. Amant. Other
surviving sons are James S. Barman, Clerk of Court of this parish; one residing
at Port Vincent, and another in Mississippi.
