DIED WHILE DRILLING. - George Rodeillat of This City Drops Dead at Camp 
Logan. - George Rodeillat, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lazard Rodeillat, of this 
city, and a member of the 2rd Recruit Detachment, 43rd Infantry, U. S. A., 
in training at Camp Logan, Houston, Texas, died suddenly at that place last 
Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock of heart failure.

Young Rodeillat was drafted from this parish and left for Camp Logan on July 
5, and had been in training a little over two months. Some nine or ten 
months ago, he went to New Orleans and tried to volunteer for service in the 
army, but was turned down on account of heart trouble. Later when he was 
drafted he was examined here and accepted. At the time of his induction into 
the army and for several years prior thereto, he was employed as a salesman 
in the grocery department of B. Lemann & Bro.'s store, and was considered 
one of the most valued employees in that large establishment. He was a young 
man of a pleasant and hearty disposition and his friends were legion. He 
enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all who knew him.

The body was brought to Donaldsonville under the escort of Corporal Samuel 
S. Malczenski, arriving here over the T. & P. railroad at 3:07 o'clock 
Thursday afternoon and was conveyed to the residence of Jos. N. Gisclard, 
uncle of the deceased, in St. Patrick street. Ritual services were conducted 
at the residence by local tribe of Red Men, of which he was a member, after 
which services were held at the Catholic church, with Rev. J. J. Boudreaux 
officiating, and the remains were consigned to their last resting place in 
the Catholic cemetery. A large number of sorrowing relatives and friends 
attended the last sad rites and followed the remains to the grave.

Deceased is survived by his father and mother; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon 
Busby and Mrs. Sewall Causlan, of New Orleans, and two brothers, Louis and 
Oden Rodeillat, the latter being now in the United States army fighting for 
liberty and humanity on the far-famed battlefields of France. To the sorely 
afflicted parents and relatives the Chief tenders its sincere sympathy in 
their bereavement.
