Homer Youth Killed in Action In Italian Theatre

Pvt. Kentis Noland, Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Noland Killed March 1

Pvt. Kentis D. Noland, 19 of Homer, was killed in action in Italy, March 1, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Noland, last Monday. Noland had been overseas less than a month.

The notification to Mr. and Mrs. Noland read as follows:

James Noland,
Homer, La.

The Secretary of War desires me to express his deep regret that your son private Kentis D. Noland, was killed in action in defense of his country on March 1st in Italy. Letter follows.

He was a graduate from Homer high school in May 1943, was on the football team, former 4-H club president of Claiborne parish and was selected king of Achievement day in 1941.

Kentis Noland was a popular young man, well liked by not only his young friends, but among the older people. He was active in church work, and interested in all school activities.

Surviving are: his parents, two sisters, Mrs. J. B. Tindall, of Beaumont, Texas; Miss Johnnie Noland of Homer; one brother, Earl C. Noland with the Marines in the Southwest Pacific.

The Guardian-Journal joins a large circle of friends in extending sympathy.
