Am looking for the burial site and cause of death for my gg-grandfather, James Samuel GIEGER, who was born in Covington County, MS on 27 May 1822. He was a Baptist preacher and the fourth child and third son of Jesse GIEGER and Tobitha MARTIN of Covington County. The Zachariah GIEGER Bible (http://home.stlnet.com/~pawest/geigbib.html) records his date of death as 23March1868. Zachariah was Grandfather Samuel's oldest brother. The site may be either MS or LA because his widow, gg-grandmother Louisa (HOUGH) GIEGER was living in Grant Parish, LA, with their five children when the US Census was taken in 1870.

Post ByDavid C. Rains SURNAMES: MILSTEAD,
VALENTINE DATE: Friday, May 1, 1998 MILSTEAD / VALENTINE- John and Emily
MILSTEAD settled in Grant Parish in 1860. Their children were William J., Virginia,
Solomon G., John, Benjamin F., Starks S., Richard Marion, Minerva, Eliza D., and
James A. John, Emily, and family appear in the 1860 Census for that portion of
Rapides Parish which later became Grant Parish. The 1870 Census lists only Emily
and family. John has apparently died. Starks was my great grandfather. He married
Louisiana Victoria VALENTINE from Catahoula Parish and had nine children. Starks
died young in 1898 or 1899 and is buried in an unmarked grave at the Liberty
Chapel Cemetery in Williana. Benjamin F. appears in the 1880 Census in Grant
Parish and is shown to be married to Fanny. He has two daughters listed-- Lou,
age 4, and Mary, age 1. However, B.F. Milstead is also shown in La. Marriage
records as marrying a Sarah Williams in 1886 in Grant Parish. I know the lineage
and descendants of Starks Milstead and "Lou" Valentine. Does anyone have any
additional information on Benjamin F. MILSTEAD and what happened to Fanny? Did
Benjamin have any other children by either wife? I am looking for any information
on the other children of John and Emily? Also, does anyone know the relationship,
if there is any, of the Frank, Lessie, and Sarah MILSTEAD buried at the Mt. Zion
Cemetary outside of Montgomery with the descendants of John and Emily? Thanks in
advance for any assistance. David C. Rains
