Elva Bruce

Elva Vegas Bruce, 85, died at 2:20 p.m. July 2, 2005.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut 
Off. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the 
church, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.

She is survived by her sons, Luxton Bruce and his wife, Diane, and Gary "Moose" 
Bruce and his wife, Gloria; daughter, Janet Baudoin; daughter-in-law, Joyce 
Bruce; brother, Linton Vegas; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five 
great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, John S. Bruce; parents, Edward and Alexina 
"Cora" Pitre Vegas; son, Jacob J. Bruce; in-laws, Arthur "Jean" and Odelia 
Bruce; brother, Roman Vegas; and sisters, Matilda Gilbeaux and Amie Bruce.

She was Catholic and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, a 
past member of the Sacred Heart Ladies Altar Society and the American Legion 
Auxiliary. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing crabs, bingo, going to 
casinos and raising her grandchildren.

Samart Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
