Sidney Matherne

Sidney J. Matherne, 93, a native and resident of Bayou Gauche, died at 9:30 p.m. 
Sept. 17, 2005.

Visitation will be 6 to 10 p.m. today at Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland and 8 
to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. A Mass of 
Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with 
burial in Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche.

He is survived by his sons, Curlis, Roland and Gerald Matherne; daughters, 
Clairbell Thompson and Mary Ann Bourgeois; two brothers, Hector and Victor 
Matherne; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alida Comardelle Matherne; parents, 
Jacques and Henrietta S. Matherne; a son, Lloyd Matherne; brothers, Tony, Felix, 
Sam and Arthur Matherne; and one great-grandchild.

Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
