Remont, 72, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Houston. Born on the 15th of Nov. 1937, in Cut Off, Larry was the second of five children born to Ozite Galiano and Edmond Joseph Remont. Larry graduated from Louisiana State University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, and also served in the National Guard. Larry built his career in the Petroleum industry, focusing on drilling fluids. After a long history of work in Houston starting with Baroid, then moving to Maurer Engineering, Mizell Corporation, Petrolite, Global Drilling Fluids and Anchor Drilling Fluids, Larry then took his work to M-I Drilling Fluids Canada, Inc. and Reef Mud in Calgary. Larry so enjoyed sharing his knowledge in his field that upon return to Houston in 2002, he took his wealth of knowledge in drilling fluids to the classrooms. He shared his expertise throughout the world, as far from home as Egypt. During his career Larry co-authored 15 publications on his field. He was a 50-year, recognized, member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Larry was also a long-time member of St. Francis de Sales Church in Houston. During his free time, Larry enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandsons. His intellectual curiosity, patience and attention to detail were appreciated by all those he came into contact with and will be remembered forever. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He was born Oct. 29, 1947 in Mansfield, to Bertha and Oliver 'O. P.' Savoie. Errol is a 1965 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School in Houma, a 1974 graduate of LSU, and earned a masters degree from Louisiana Tech. Errol served honorably in the US Air Force from 1968-1971, and completed a tour of duty in Southeast Asia in 1969-70. When he returned, Errol resumed his education at LSU and served as editor of the Daily Reveille in 1974. Upon graduation from LSU, Errol joined International Paper where he enjoyed a long career including positions as lobbyist, head of corporate public relations and corporate spokesperson. After he retired, Errol returned to South Louisiana, the place he loved, and continued the work he loved in PR and political consulting. There are very few others who follow the great game of politics and culture with the style, wit and savvy brought by Errol. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Pellegrin Wright of Houma; two sons, Thomas L. Wright and wife, Harriet Chauvin, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Richard P. Wright and wife, Diane Troxler, of White Castle; eight grandchildren, Holden R. Wright and wife, Aron, Timothy H. Wright and wife, Blaire, James R. Wright, Anne E. Wright Hebert, Margaret M. Wright, Elizabeth C. Wright, William T. Wright and Anne W. Hebert and husband, Joshua Hebert; one great-granddaughter, Madison H. Wright; two step-granddaughters, Lynell Ervin and husband, Shane Ervin, and Nicole Dufrene and husband, Glenn Dufrene; four step-great-grandchildren, Scott Deloach, Alex Dufrene, Ashlyn Ervin and Alyssa Ervin; one step-great-great-granddaughter, McKinna Deloach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elward Wright and Levie Druilhet Wright; one son, Robert R. "Bob" Wright Jr.; five brothers, Thomas Elward Wright Jr., Paul Alexandre Wright, Conley Joseph "Dooley" Wright, Kenneth Holden "Doc" Wright and Louis Druilhet "Jet" Wright; four sisters, Alva Larose, Marguerite Cooke, Sarah Sandoz and Marian Wright. He graduated from Terrebonne High School in 1934 and attended Louisiana State University, where he earned a B. S. degree in civil engineering. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in November 1941. He received his commission at Fort Benning, Ga., in June 1942 and served in the Pacific theater for 3 1/2 years. He was recalled to service in 1950 during the Korean War and served as a captain in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He founded and operated Robert R. Wright Civil Engineers and Surveyor until his retirement. He was a member of the Louisiana Association of Professional Engineers and Surveyors, the Society of American Military Engineers, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a charter member of Ellendale Country Club and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was awarded the Papal Medal "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" bestowed upon him by Pope Paul VI. He was a devoted and loving husband. His greatest pleasure was being with his family. Young, 87, a native of Drumwright, Okla., and former resident of Houma and resident of Farmerville, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Young; one son, John Young and wife, Lorie; four daughters, Gail Stoddard, Della Toups and husband, Matt, Nancy Varisco and companion, Karl Traylor, and Robin Nguyen and husband, Chung; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Young; one great-grandchild, Lane Young; his first wife, Dorothy Ross Young; and one brother, Muriel Young. He retired from Texaco. He was a lifetime member of the Masons, a World War II submarine veteran and loved to fish and travel.
