Helon Marie Baldwin Harwell, 92, of Tyler, Texas, passed away Thursday, May
2, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She was laid to rest Sunday, May 5, 2013,
in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Center, Texas. She is survived by her
sister, Fannie B. Caid; nieces and nephews, Lanelle and Joseph Picarella, of
Tyler, Texas, Jeff and Cindy Caid, of Tyler, Texas, Jean and Bill Cole, of
Lawrenceville, Ga., Chauncey Young Jr., of Lawrenceville Ga., J.D. and Linda
Smith, of Slidell, Terry Harwell, Kerry Earl Harwell, Cheryl Ann Harwell;
and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her
husband, John Earl Harwell; her parents, Aaron F. Baldwin and Bernice
Baldwin. Helon was born in Center, Texas, on Jan. 6, 1921. She graduated
from Center High School and continued on to receive the following degrees: a
bachelor of science in 1948 from Stephen F. Austin University in
Nacogdoches, Texas; master of religious education in 1949 and doctor of
religious education in 1955 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Ft. Worth, Texas; master of arts in 1962 from Northeast Missouri State
Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo.; and doctor of education in 1967 from
East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. Helon was married to John
Earl Harwell on Aug. 23, 1953. They were married for 59 years. She retired
from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux in 1990, after 23 years as a
professor and head of the department of Special Education. In lieu of

in Houma will be at a later date. He is survived by his wife of 55 years,

wife, Sheron T. Hebert, of Lafayette; adopted son, Bryan Olson and wife,

H. Olivier, of Houma, and grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Kyle, Matthew, Josh,
Jared and Morgan Hebert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex

father-in-law, Wilbert V. Picone. He was a 1955 graduate of Terrebonne High
School. Later he managed Pitt Grill Restaurants in Lafayette, which later
became Kettle Restaurants. In addition, he had a brief career in the
oilfield working for Patterson Rental Tools. He enjoyed cooking, gardening
and following LSU sports. He loved spending time at his camp in Cypremore
Point, especially with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.Delhomme

Ruby Beauvais Hebert, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died peacefully in

husband, Robert "Moose" Duet, Melanie and husband, Scott Ganaway, and Fred
C. Hebert Jr. and wife, Caroline Blum Hebert; brother, Paul Benoit; and
sisters, Julia Bouquet and Cecile Rodrigue. She was the proud grandmother of
11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Fred C. Hebert Sr.; parents, Paul Beauvais and Odile Usey
Benoit; stepfather, Adam Willis Benoit; brother, Willie Benoit; and sisters,
Lucille Lirette and Velma Benoit. Ruby was born August 8, 1930, in
Thibodaux. She was a dedicated mother and a parishioner of St. Genevieve
Catholic Church. She dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed gardening
and spending time with her children, grand-children, and
great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and many dear
