Irene Rita Abadie, 87, a native and resident of Houma, passed away Friday, Feb. 
28, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home 
in Houma, and from 8 a.m. until funeral Thursday at St. Francis de Sales 
Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the 
church, 

with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. 

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine A. Champagne; brother, Abel Pontiff; 
sister, Earline Trahan; grandchildren, Alisa Champagne, Rebecca DeHart and 
husband, Preston, and Tiffany Moore and husband, Lynn; great-grandchildren, 
Farrah DeHart, Brandon DeHart, Shaylie DeHart, and Brittney Moore; and great-
great-grandchildren, Jaidalynn, Johnathon, Aubrey, Zayne, and Jayden. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Joseph Abadie; parents, Abel 
and Helen Pontiff; brothers, Edmond, Edward, and Joseph Pontiff; and sister, 
Lucille Pontiff 

Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply 
missed by all who knew her. 

Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
