Homer Bennett, 80, a resident of Sunset, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at 
Opelousas General Health System. 

Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. Sunday at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in 
Opelousas and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. 
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home 
Chapel in Opelousas. The Rev. James Craft will conduct the service. 

Burial will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. 

He is survived by his wife since 1988, Veronica Marks Bennett, of Sunset; sons, 
Randal Bennett and wife, Derra, of Theriot, Ernest Bennett and wife, Donna, of 
Houma, Thomas Bennett and wife, Lisa, of Batson, Texas; daughters, DeeAnna 
Bennett Beaver and husband, Elvin, of Theriot, and Yvette Bennett of Sunset; 
step-children, Kerry Fontenot Jr. of Sunset, and Bridget Dupre, of Tampa, Fla.; 
sisters, Oma Dee Wood of Cleveland, Texas, Lottie Bennett of Texas and Loraine 
Byrd of Texas; and 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Lillie Rollings Bennett; 
brothers, Raymond Bennett, Henry Bennett; and sisters, Mae Adams, Thelma Coffee 
and Katie Larabel. 

Homer served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. 
He was currently employed with Eaton Oil Tools Inc. in Broussard 

Homer will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
him. 

LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of funeral arrangements.
