Funeral services for John R. Alexander, 83, of Clayton, La. will be held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday, La. on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. With Bro. Brent Bemont and Nicholas Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

Mr. Alexander was born on November 29, 1926 in Tallulah, Louisiana and passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 in Cash Bayou, LA. He was a resident of Clayton, a Superintendent at International Paper Co. for 36 years and an active member of Faith Baptist Church of Foules, LA. where he served as deacon. Mr. Alexander proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He loved his God, his Family, and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by: Daughter, Donna Alexander Money, Parents, Danny and Victoria Alexander, Three brothers, Nolan Alexander, Daniel Alexander and Cecil Alexander, Three sisters, Inez Givens, Zelma McDonald and Allie Gordy.

Survivors include: His wife of 61 years, Anita Alexander of Clayton, LA, Three daughters, Wanda Faye Ford, Penny Sue Torrey, both of Shreveport, LA and Tracy Johnette Hagar and husband, Steven of Haughton, LA, Son, Johnny Alexander of Shreveport, LA, Son-in-law, Donald Money of Clayton, LA and Brother, Billy Alexander of Walker, LA.

The Pallbearers will be his grandsons Brad Ford, Todd Ford, D.J. Torrey, Jamie Ferrington, Jason Money, and son-in-law Steven Hagar.

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday, La. from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010.
