All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ James Harry Barrett Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 21, 1987 Funeral services for Mr. James Harry Barrett Sr., 71, were at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Silver Cross Cemetery with military graveside services. Arrangements were under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Barrett died Friday at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Commerce, Tex., had been a resident of East Carroll Parish for 18 years and a member of the East Carroll Police Jury for 16 years. He was past president of the 5th Region Police Jury, member of the American Legion, member of the Chamber of Commerce and a World War II veteran. He was a former resident of Madison Parish and a restaurant owner in Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lovie Walker Barrett of Sondheimer: one daughter, Mrs. Carol Kirk of Clinton, Ms.; one son. Mr. James Harry Barrett Jr. of Jackson: one sister, Mrs. Illa Mae Oakes of Delhi: two brothers, Van Ellis Barrett of Mobile. Ala. and Glenn Barrett of Bogalusa; five grandchildren: and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Thomas Shields III, Harry Shields, Teddy Shields, Ted Oliver, Gary Parker. Paul Marsh, Jerry Osterdahl and Mike Barrett.
