Arwin Patrick Bascle - Madison Parish, Louisiana
Baton Rouge Advocate Baton Rouge LA April 18, 2025
June 22, 1955 - April 17, 2025
Baton Rouge, LA - Arwin Patrick Bascle passed away on April 17th, 2025
after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
Born in 1955 into a farming family in Tallulah, Arwin enjoyed an idyllic
childhood with a level of personal autonomy and freedom to roam that is now
rare.
After graduating from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Arwin moved
to Baton Rouge. A short stint at the Wright and Percy Insurance Agency in 1981
led to her involvement in the last campaign of former U.S. Senator Russell
Long. Next came work for the Louisiana House of Representatives Labor
Committee, then the House Commerce Committee. She subsequently set out on her
own as a political consultant, quickly establishing a reputation for integrity,
honesty, passion and hard work.
Arwin was known for being fiercely loyal to and protective of those she
loved. She disdained sanctimony, puffery, hypocrisy, racism, bigotry and
misogyny. The many people who requested that she keep a confidence can take
solace in knowing it will be buried with her.
She was authentic, and hers was a monumental standard of friendship.
Arwin is survived by her beloved son Ryan Nichols, his daughter Grace, his
wife Tess, her sons McKinley and Justin and their granddaughter Harper; her
twin brother Warren Scott "Pat" Patrick, Jr.; sisters Nancy Patrick
(husband John) and Cheryl Landry (husband Winston); cherished cousins Charlotte
Wright, Scottie McKnight and her husband Markham. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Nell Hammond Patrick and Warren Scott Patrick, Sr.
Her friends are too numerous to list, but it was one's good fortune to be
one, and you know who you are.
Tallulah is but 138 miles from Baton Rouge. Arwin never forgot her roots
there, returning often, speaking almost daily to her brother Pat. Yet in her
all too brief time on earth, Arwin traveled light years from where she grew up.
In the original sense of the word, she was...awesome.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge for its support in
caring for our beloved Arwin in her final days. And heartfelt thanks and
profound gratitude to Shonda Ellis and Kristle Green for their amazing
dedication and care.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a charitable contribution to:The
