All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Abe Bloom - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Madison Journal May 31, 1935 LOCAL MERCHANT SUCCUMBS WITH HEART TROUBLE Abe Bloom Dies Tuesday After Illness of Two Months Abe Bloom, 55, died in his home here Tuesday morning about three o'clock after an illness of several weeks. A native of Rochester, New York, Mr. Bloom came to Tallulah in 1902 when only 22 years of age. He had lived here for thirty-three years and was engaged in the mercantile and drug business at the time of his death. Mr. Bloom's death came as a distinct shock to the people of Tallulah. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and an officer in the Eastern Star. Funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday morning at ten o'clock with Rabbi Sol Kory of Vicksburg, officiating. Numerous floral offerings expressed in a lovely manner the sympathy of the people who had known and come to love Mr. Bloom. Interment was made in the Jewish cemetery at Vicksburg with Masonic rites. Surviving Mr. Bloom are his father, H. Bloom of Tallulah; two brothers, Ralph Bloom of Rayville and Mertie M. Bloom of Tallulah, and six sisters, Mrs. Jake Kern of Bastrop, Mrs. Bessie Minsky, Mrs. M. Saiewitz and Misses Beckie, Sara and Ida Bloom all of Tallulah. Relatives and friends attending the funeral of Mr. Abe Bloom last Wednesday were Mr. Dave Miller of New York City; Mr. Sam Levy of Nashville, Tenn.; Dr. and Mrs. Sam Saiewitz of New Orleans; Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Meyer of Reidland, Ark.; Dr. Louis Levy of Memphis; Mrs. Sim B. Lestler of Louisville, Ky.; Mr. Leo Lewis of Marianna, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Mertie Levy of Lake Providence; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Minsky of Lake Providence and Mr. Golden Leigh Levy of Lake Providence.
