TALLULAH - The remains of Owen Hamilton Boney, a former resident of Tallulah, who died in Panama, Saturday, March 23, arrived here this morning.

 

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Boney home this afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. David E. Holt of Texarkana, Ark. officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be W. P. Sevier, Jr., R. C. Wilkerson, Ralph Weaver, Thomas Murphy, Charles W. Davis, and Tom Fortner.

 

Interment will be in the Silver Cross cemetery.

Expected To Hold Boney Rites Here Tuesday Afternoon

 

It was announced this week that it is expected that funeral services for Owen Hamilton Boney, 40-year-old comptroller for the Standard  Oil Company at Ancon, Panama, whose death occurred recently, would be held in Tallulah Tuesday  afternoon. The remains were being brought to New Orleans by boat, and the steamer is scheduled to a dock at that city Monday, in which case the funeral will be held here Tuesday.

 

Boney's death occurred from a heart attack at Ancon. He had been stationed in Panama for the past two years.

 

He is the son of the late Richard K. Boney and Mrs. Rena C. Boney, of Tallulah. He was a World war veteran having served in France for 16 months with the 39th Division. He later attended the Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He also was a thirty-second degree Mason. He was a native of Madison parish, having spent his boyhood at Duckport, where his father was engaged in planting. He was married to Miss Florence Fortner, of Vicks­burg, March 1, 1928.

 

Mr. Boney is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Rena C. Boney, of Tallulah, and two sisters, Mrs. David E. Holt, of Texarkana, Ark., and Mrs. Will P. Sevier, Jr., of Tallulah.

Boney Is Given Burial Rites

 

Owen Hamilton Boney, 40-year old comptroller for the Standard Oil Company whose death occurred recently, was buried in Silver Cross cemetery last Tuesday afternoon.

Pallbearers were John T. De­loach of Winnfield, W. P. Sevier of Tallulah, R. C. Wilkerson, Ralph Weaver, and Thomas Murphy  Vicksburg, Miss., and Charles W. Davis of Shreveport. The Rev. David Holt, Texarkana, officiated.

 

Boney died at Ancon, Panama, from a heart attack. He had been stationed in Panama for the past two years. The body was returned to New Orleans by boat.

Surviving Boney are his widow, his mother, Mr. Rena C. Boney of Tallulah, and two sisters, Mrs. David E. Holt of Texarkana, aid Mrs. Will P. Sevier, Jr., Tallulah.

BONEY FUNERAL

 

TALLULAH, La April 3—(Special) Funeral services for Owen Hamilton Boney, 40, a comptroller of the Standard Oil Company, who died of a heart attack at Ancon, Panama, March 24, were hid from the Boney home here Tuesday afternoon with Rev. David E. Holt of Texarkana, Ark. officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross cemetery here.

 

Mr. Boney had been stationed at Panama for the past two years and had been in the employ of the company for 20 years. He was a native of Madison parish and was the son of the late Richard K. Boney and Mrs. Rena C. Boney. He was a World War veteran, having served for 16 months in France with the 39th division. He later attended Louisiana State University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was also a Shriner,

 

 Mr. Boney is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence Fortner Boney, formerly of Vicksburg, his mother, Mrs. Rena C. Boney of Tallulah, a sister, Mrs. W. P. Sevier of Tallulah and a sister, Mrs. David E. Holt of Texarkana.
