Bray - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star March 19, 1936 TALLULAH, La., March 19. - (Special) - A. G. Bray, 58, a resident of Tallulah for many years, died at a Vicksburg, Miss., hospital Tuesday after an illness of several weeks. He was formerly in the mercantile business in Tallulah and Thomastown, but was recently employed as a traveling salesman. He was a member of the Baptist church and a Mason. Funeral services were held at the home here Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. L. A. Materne of the local Baptist church officiating, assisted by Rev. Charles E. Woodson of Trinity Episcopal church of Vicksburg. Interment followed in Silver Cross cemetery. Mr. Bray is survived by his widow, Mrs. Natalie Thomas Bray; four sons, Billy, Nat, Arthur and Shields; a brother, Dr. Charles M. Bray of Birmingham, Ala., and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Eskridge of Greenwood, Miss. From Tallulah Madison Journal March 20, 1936 A. G. Bray Dies Tuesday After A Short Illness Arthur Gould Bray, aged 58 years, of Tallulah, passed away at a Vicksburg hospital Tuesday after noon at 4 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Bray was at one time a resident of Thomastown, eight miles east of Tallulah, where he was engaged in the mercantile business. During his residence at this place he married Miss Natalie Thomas. He also formerly owned a business in Tallulah but at the time of his death he was in the employment of a Jackson business concern as salesman. Since his residence at Thomastown he has resided in Tallulah and leaves many friends who regret to learn of his death. Mr. Bray is survived by his wife, Mrs. Natalie Bray; four sons, Nat Thomas, William Marion, Arthur Gould, Jr., and Shields Collins, all of Tallulah; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Eskridge of Greenwood, Miss.; and one brother, Dr. Charles Bray of Birmingham, Ala. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. L. A. Materne, pastor of the Tallulah Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. C. E. Woodson, rector of Grace Episcopal Church of Vicksburg. The following served as pall bearers: Active-P. O. Benjamin, R. J. Clark, Dr. W. P. Yerger, R. L. Farr, N. T. Holt and Dr. A. T. Palmer. Honorary-A. J. Sevier, George S. Yerger, S. B. Bettis, C. C. Clark and E. A. Beers.
