Dewey Vernon Brock passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah, Louisiana, at the age of 74. Dewey was born December 11, 1948, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Berton Jackson and Ida Francis Carpenter Brock.

Dewey and his wife, Linda, made their home in Madison Parish. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. Dewey attended Parkview Baptist Church in Tallulah. He liked being outdoors fishing, gardening, and doing yard work. Dewey loved children, and his favorite times were when children were at his house playing in the yard. He was known as “the neighborhood Poppy”. Dewey was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, Berton and Ida Brock, and his sister Lenora Bradley.

Dewey is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda McKnight Brock; son, Erick Cherene and wife, Suzy; grandchildren, Ericka Cherene, Brennan Cherene, Hunter Cherene, Callie Marsh, Carter Marsh; and Desirae Bedgood Bowling; great grandchildren, Knox Cherene and Riley June Cherene; sister, Wilma Williams and husband, David, and family; nieces and nephews, Garrett and Krimson Marsh, Kevin and Stacy Holcomb and children, and Ken and Jennifer McKnight and children; loving extended family, Wally and Amber Lopez and their children, Bronson, Luke, and Jackson, Carolyn and Wayne McKnight, JV and Julia Bankston and family, and Dickie and Rhonda Harris and family; and a large host of friends.

A memorial service will be held for Dewey at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Parkview Baptist Church with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wally Lopez, Frank Preuitt, Ken McKnight, Garrett Marsh, Dewayne Hosey, Jake Copes, Dickie Harris, and fishing buddies.
