MARION - John "J B" Brown Jr., 80, of Marion, passed away Saturday morning, April 18, 2009 at the Marion General Hospital.

He was born in Tallulah, Louisiana on June 11, 1928 to the late John and Addielee (Whitaker) Brown Sr. In 1945 he married Lovell (Myles) Brown in Tallulah.

John retired from Baldauf in 1975 as a mason. He loved to fish. He was a loving father and loved his children.

John is survived by five sons, Johnny (Marlean) Brown of Akron, Ohio, Willie (Carmella) Brown, James (Harnetha) Brown, David (Maria) Brown, and Marvin Brown all of Marion; five daughters, Ruby (Allen) Jones, Linda Williams, Mary Brown, LaVonne Brown, and Alice (Don) Boler all of Marion; 33 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Sophia Myles, Lena Myles, and Clara Carter; a special friend, Carmen Kelley; and a host of other family members.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Lovell; five children, Lovalee, Ollie Mae, Edward, Rodger, and Donald; seven brothers and sisters; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 25 at Christ Missionary Church at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Butler officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
