All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Marylynn Duplissey Brown - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, April 27, 1988 Marylynn Duplissey Brown of Tallulah died at St. Jude Hospital in New Orleans Tuesday morning. Family graveside services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of Tallulah conducted by Rev. John Hurt of Jacksonville, Fla., Rev. David Lawrence of Baton Rouge and Rev. John Rushing of Tallulah. Mrs. Brown was born in Shreveport and was a lifelong resident of Madison Parish. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Tallulah. She is survived by her husband, retired Louisiana State Senator Charles M. Brown; two sons, Charles Richard (Dick) Brown and James Roy (Jim) Brown; one brother, E. H. Duplissey, Jr.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Tallulah. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva C. Holt and her brother, Bill Duplissey. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Tallulah High School. She served as president of the Board of Directors of Tallulah Academy and Delta Christian School. Mrs. Brown was actively engag-ed in the management of various family businesses. She was the founder of Christian Acres, Delta Haven Nursing Home, Franklin Guest Home, Delhi Guest Home, Dixie Springs Spring Water and Delta Village, the owner of 4-B Ranch, and she was presently serving as a director of Charlyn Enterprises, Ltd., vice-president of Delta Home Care, and president of Double M Stables. Mrs. Brown held various executive positions in the American Polled Hereford Association and the American Hereford Association of which she was a member for 40 years. She was an active member of many community projects and was a dedicated humanitarian. Through the years, Mrs. Brown has been recognized as a prominent and active civic leader in the community and throughout the State of Louisiana. For the past 30 years she has served as a Colonel on the Louisiana Governor's Staff. Mrs. Brown's many state honors included serving on the executive board of the LA Tourism Commission, on the advisory board of LA Gifted and Talented Students and advisor for the LA School for Math, Science, and Arts in Natchitoches. The family requests that memorials be sent to Tallulah Academy-Delta Christian School.
