All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Warren Duncan Buford - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 1, 1963 Services Held For Warren Buford, Former Resident Mr. Warren Duncan Buford, for many years one of Madison Parish's well-known planters, and with a large circle of friends here, died at his home in Oxford, Miss., Friday, February 22, 1963. He made his home here with his family on Trinidad Plantation from 1925 until his retirement in 1949, when he moved to his birthplace in Mississippi. Born at College Hill, Miss., in 1882, Mr. Buford was a member of an early Mississippi family. They were among a group of pioneers of Revolutionary descent, who founded the community of College Hill and built historic College Hill Presbyterian Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Vera Magee Buford; three daughters, Mrs. Hugh Walker Ivy of Hollandale, Miss., Mrs. Thomas Howard Gandy of Natchez, Miss., and Mrs. Otho Givens, Jr., of Senatobia, Miss.; a brother, Thomas B. Buford of Sumner, Miss., and eight grandchildren. From Tate County Democrat February 28, 1963 The many friends of Mrs. Otho Givens, Jr., were sorry to learn of the death of her father, Warren D. Buford early Friday mroning, Feb. 22, at his home in Oxford. He was 80 years old. Graveside services were conducted in Woodlawn Cemetery at Sumner at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, Feb. 23. Mr. Buford was a member of an early Mississippi family. They were among a group of pioneers of revolutionary descent, who founded the community of College Hill Presbyterian Church. Born at College Hill in 1882, he lived at Sumner from 1925 until his retirement in 1949. Mr. Buford had planting interests at Tallulah, La. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vera Magee Buford; three daughters, Mrs. Otho Givens, Jr., of Senatobia, Mrs. Thomas H. Gandy of Natchez, and Mrs. Hugh Walker Ivy of Hollandale; a brother, Thomas B. Buford of Sumner and eight grandchildren.
