Funeral Today For John McCann Butler

TALLULAH, La.; Dec. 21-(Special) - Funeral services for John McCann Butler, plantation manager in 
the Mississippi delta and former resident of  Mound, La., will be held at the Crothers funeral home 
in Tallulah this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Reverend father R. M, Maure will officiate. Interment will 
be in Cedar Hill Cemetery at Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be John Helgason, Delta, La.; Luke Koestler, Vicksburg; Nolan Dixon, R. W. Burleigh, 
C. P. Strong. Andrew Yerger, George Yerger, Bill Yerger and E. C. Woodyear, all of  Mound.

Mr. Butler passed away in a Jackson hospital Thursday after a brief illness. He was 68 years old. Prior 
to going to Mississippi his home was in Mound where he managed the Killarney Plantation. Since 1941 he 
had been a plantation manager in the delta.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Sarah Bell Bragg of Jackson; Mrs. Nell Dundas of El Centra, 
Calif.; three sisters and one brother.
