Funeral services for Mrs. Winona Jane Allen Butler, age 89, will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana, with Bro. Jason Lupo officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Mrs. Winona passed from her earthly life Monday, August 23, 2021, at Willis-Knighten Hospital in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was born November 9, 1931, in Demorest, Georgia, the second child of ten children, to James Hoyt and Mamie Wealthy Bellew Allen. She married Luther Eugene Butler. They had one daughter, Theresa Jane Butler. She worked as a clerk at Days Department Store, Lees Bakery, A-Mart Grocery Store, and cleaned the DMV building. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She loved her family, including her many extended families, and was a friend to many.

Mrs. Winona would want to express gratitude to Lourdine Panquin, Sammie Byrd, and Glenda Baker for all they have done for her and Theresa.

Mrs. Winona is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Butler; parents, Hoyt and Mamie Allen; and siblings, James Hubert Allen, Herman Lee Allen, Raymond Hoyt Allen, Jerry Phillip Allen, Doyal Wendell Allen, and infant brother, Harold Theron Allen.

Mrs. Winona is survived by her daughter, Theresa Jane Butler of Tallulah, Louisiana; siblings, Edward Eugene Allen of Ellenwood, Georgia, Linda Dianne Burke of Buford, Georgia, and John Marion Allen of Griffin, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sammie Byrd, Howard Ziegler, Ronald Hale, Eddie Hattaway, Dusty Butler, and Bodie McDonald.

Theresa’s tribute to her mother: “My mother was loved by many, and she loved them one and all. We will miss her so much. There will be a hole in our hearts. She is with the Lord and her family.”
