Byrd Madison Parish, LA Birth: Apr. 18, 1905 Death: Jun. 26, 1955 From Monroe News-Star June 28, 1955 TALLULAH, June 28 (Special) — The funeral of A. M. Byrd, 50, who died at his home three miles north of Waverly Sunday night, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Waverly. The Rev. Vaughn Hatton officiated. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Delhi, under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home of Tallulah. Byrd was a resident of Waverly community for five years. He was formerly employed by the Madison Parish police jury for approximately 23 years. He had retired because of ill health. Byrd is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Doyle Brown of Waverly; one brother, S. P. Byrd, of Newellton; one sister, Mrs. George B. Lord, of Newellton; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Baskin Parks, Ernest Best, Lane Taylor, Terrell Lewis, L. E. Darnell and Herschel Fulford.
