Caldwell - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 3, 1987 Funeral services for Mr. James D. Caldwell, 76, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tallulah First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ramon Warren officiating. Burial followed in Welcome Home Cemetery in Columbia under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Caldwell died Saturday at his home after a short illness. He was a native of Columbia and a resident of Madison Parish for the past 37 years. He was a retired hydroponic farmer, a former opera singer with the Metropolitan Opera in New York and a graduate of LSU master's degree program in music. He was a former semi-pro baseball manager for Columbia in the late 1940s and coached baseball in Tallulah in the 1950s and 1960s. Survivors include two sons, James D. ( Buddy) Caldwell and Louis Caldwell, both of Tallulah; four daughters, Dr. Sandra Jolson of Maitland, Fla., Lisbeth Abramson of San Diego, Ca., Mrs. Irene Gosey of Slidell and Mrs. Sara Bess Wood of Laguna Beach, Ca.; and 15 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Earl Clark, Dr. Jim Gosey, Alon Blake, Billy Post, Wesley Reardon and Phillip Frierson.
