Margaret Lorraine Calhoun, an annuitant of Exxon Corporation, died Sunday, June 26, 2011. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Dwight Munn officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Calhoun was born January 24, 1927, in Mangham, LA and graduated from Mangham High School. She received a business administration degree from Monroe Commercial School and began working with various law firms in Tallulah, Shreveport and Monroe in 1945 and continued until 1957, when she joined an oil and gas company in Monroe and transferred to New Orleans in January, 1958, where she lived for 42 years. After serving in several positions with several subsidiaries of Exxon Corporation, she retired September 1, 1983 as Assistant Secretary of Monterey Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of Exxon Corporation.

Ms. Calhoun moved back to Monroe in May, 2000 to be near her family after her sister, Ann, was diagnosed with cancer. A member of First Baptist Church West Monroe, Ms. Calhoun lived a very productive, full and generous life, ever attentive to the needs of relatives as well as the people she was thankful to call friends. A lady of quiet dignity, courage and independence, she will be missed by all who knew her and whose lives were touched by her.

Ms. Calhoun was preceded in death by her parents, Simon "Bud" Calhoun and Rita Roy Calhoun; brother, Jimmy Calhoun; sister, Ann Calhoun; and nephew, Chester Neathery, Jr.

She is survived by one brother, Clyde R. Calhoun of St. Clair, MO; one sister, Shirley C. Smith of Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, whom she dearly loved.

Pallbearers will be John W. Roy, James L. Smith, Tyler Calhoun, Keith Calhoun, LeeRoy Rivera, and Harris Segal.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
