All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Ollie Cantrell Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post August 23, 2014 TALLULAH, La. - Funeral services for Ollie Cantrell Jr., age 87, were today, Aug. 22, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Jim Reid officiating, assisted by Father Ron Matthews. A private burial service was to be held later today. Mr. Cantrell was born in Osceola, Ark., on April 22, 1927. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He moved to Tallulah in the mid-1960s, where he was a farmer and was involved in agriculture for over 40 years. During those years, he served on various boards, including the Fifth District Levee Board, Walnut Bayou Water Board, and the Madison Parish Farm Bureau Board. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jean Cantrell; two daughters, Sherry Lynn and husband Timmy Harris of Tallulah, and Dana Kay and husband Jason Smith of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Brooke Ann and Preston Harris, Rheagan, Carlyle and Kendall Smith; their beloved pet, Pumpkin Doodle; one brother, Charles Cantrell of Osceola, Ark.; and one sister, Sarah Fry of Jonesboro, Ark., and nieces and nephews. Mr. Cantrell is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Sr. and Evie Cantrell; and two sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be LeRoy Taylor, Preston Harris, Richard Harris, Jerry Smith, Lane Smith, and Heath Smith.
