Capshaw, Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, December 21, 1956 Former Resident Dies Of Gunshot Wounds Friday Benjamin D. Capshaw, Sr., was found early Friday morning, December 14 in his parked car, on a street in Jackson, Miss., dead of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. He left home to report for work at the Georgia Hardwood Company of Jackson, where he had been employed the past 12 years. Mr. Capshaw with his family made his home here for many years at Tendal, La., where he was employed at the Tendal Lumber Company. He and Mrs. Capshaw made their home at 220 Lindsay Drive in Jackson since moving there. He is survived by his devoted wife Sallie Wright Capshaw and four children, Mrs. James D. Sevier of Tallulah, Mrs. George Sumlin of Delhi, Lt. Ben D. Capshaw of London, England, and Joe Chapshaw of Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services were held at the chapel in Crothers Funeral Home and at the grave side here Saturday morning, Rev. Irvin Cheney, Jr., of the Baptist Church officiated. Mr. Capshaw was born in Brinkley, Ark., December 6, 1890. Pallbearers were George R. Sumlin and George R. Sumlin, Jr., of Delhi; James D. Sevier, W. L. Rountree, Ben Jordan, Hunter D. Jones of Jackson, Miss., Roy P. Hoben, and Tom Hoben of Vicksburg, Miss. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the funeral were : Mrs. Baxter L. George of El Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. Hugh G. Geren, Shreveport; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence B. Green and Mr. John F. Carter, Sr., Franklinton, La., Mr. John F. Carter, Jr., Bogalusa; Fred A. Gwin and Dan R. Pettit of Rayville; Mrs. John D. Hoben, Mr. and Mrs, Roy P. Hoben and Mr. Tom Hoben of Vicksburg, Miss., Mrs. Dudley B. Bernays, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Jones, Mr. M. S. Parkhill, Mr. J. and Alton Langston, all of Jackson, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Sandifer and son, Crystal Spring's, Miss., and two grandchildren, Miss Sallie Sumlin, freshman of Louisiana Polytech, and George Sumlin, Jr., a student and member of the football team of Tech.
