Carter - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, December 14, 1988 Funeral services for Mrs. Velma M. Carter, 83, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Crothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial was in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Carter died Sunday in the Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, Miss. after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Olla and a resident of Tallulah for the past 60 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tallulah. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Phillips Bond of Biloxi, Miss.; two brothers, Wilburn Collins of Tallulah and Clyde R. Collins of Mount Ida, Ark.; two sisters, Ethelle Watson of Monroe and Pauline Fortenberry of Tallulah; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Joe Cupit, Dalton Fortenberry, Kirby Fortenberry, Joe Collins, Gerald Collins and David Collins.
