Carter, 47, World War veteran, died early Wednesday in the United States Veteran's hospital in Alexandria. The funeral was held at the Mulhearn Funeral Home, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Dr. A. M. Freeman officiated and interment was in Silver Cross cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Carter was formerly employed as car inspector for the Illinois Central railroad ans had made Monroe his home for 15 years. During the World War he was with the Sixth division and saw service overseas. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola Carter, two sons, William and Charles Carter; one sister, Miss Helen Carter of Quebec, La.; and four brothers, John R. Carter, H. D. Carter, Davis Carter and R. B. Carter, all of Tallulah.
