All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Kenneth Lee Chambless - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, August 3, 1951 Kenneth Lee Chambless Kenneth Lee Chambless, 14 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Chambless, of Lake One, died Monday noon in a Delhi clinic, of Tetanus. Ten days prior to his death, Kenneth had stuck part of a cane pole in his hand while chasing a chicken. Although infection had set in, his hand was treated and was apparently healing. However, he was taken to the Delhi clinic Saturday, where it was discovered he had tetanus (lockjaw). A student of Tallulah High School, Kenneth would have been in the eighth grade this fall. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Willow Bayou Baptist Church, of which he was a member, at 4:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Lynn May, pastor, officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home in Silver Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ed Roberson, Thomas Sharply, Herman Thornton, Willie Purvis, Paul Gaines and Roy McCaa. Honorary pallbearers were Arland Lee Ashley, Daniel Purvis, Gene Cox, Bobby Sullivan, Billy Ray Sullivan and M L. Melton. Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters, Glenda, Leona, Frances, Sandra and Artie Lee, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Conrad, Waverly, La.; Paternal grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Chambless, Winnfield, Ala.; and several uncles and aunts.
