Friends in Tallulah will be interested in the following which is taken from the Lawton, Oklahoma, Constitution. "Malley Hamer Coltharp, Sr., 64-year-old retired Lawton oil operator and drilling contractor, died after a few hours illness early Sunday at his home here at 108 North 14th street. Although not confined to his bed, Mr. Coltharp had been in failing health about 18 months. "Mr. Coltharp was born Oct. 29, 1871, on Pleasant View plantation, Brookhaven, Miss., the youngest of 11 children. His father was Andrew Jackson Coltharp and his mother, Jane McElheny. "Mr. Coltharp was married to Catherine Nicol Feb. 15, 1898, at Milliken's Bend, La. He engaged in business in Tallulah, La., where he organized and managed the Tallulah hardware and furniture Company. He was also joint owner and manager of the Tallulah Hoop factory. "Mr. Coltharp came to Lawton with his family in 1920. "Survivors are his wife, three sons, M. H., Jr., A. J., and W. F. Coltharp, all of Lawton; one daughter, Mrs. P. S. Bailey, Amarillo, Tex., and one granddaughter, Empress Coltharp, Lawton. "Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Monday in the Lawton Funeral Home chapel with Rev. M. L. Baker, pastor of the Beal Heights Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was made in Highland cemetery. "The Coltharp family is wellknown in this community. Their many friends sympathize with them in their bereavement."
