Copes - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, November 24, 1982 Services for Walter F. Copes, 77, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Crothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Alton Hodnett officiating. Burial was in Unity Cemetery in Darnell. Mr. Copes died Saturday at his residence after a short illness. Mr. Copes was a native of Richland Parish and a resident of Tallulah for 39 years. He was a farmer, a pork producer and a trapper. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a member of Bayou Macon Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Verda Mae Copes of Tallulah; two sons, Duane Copes of West Point, Miss., Jerry W. Copes of Tallulah; two daughters, Mrs. Christine Walters of Rayville, Mrs. Laura Pitre of Denham Springs; three brothers, Louis Copes, Ernest Copes, T.T. Copes, all of Pioneer; five sisters, Mrs. Louise McGaha, Mrs. Annie Kemp, Mrs. Maude Osborn, Mrs. Mattie Ragland, all of Pioneer, Mrs. Hazel Savage of Delhi; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Benny J. Holloway, Benny Strong, Dan Copes, Wayne Wilson, Andrew Powers and Harold Bolton.
