John James Cosse, Sr., 81, Calhoun, LA went to be with our Lord while on the golf course on November 28, 2007. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 1st at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Shreveport, LA and interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe on Friday, November 30th, 5-7 p.m.

 

John was born on July 28, 1926 in Shreveport, LA and grew up in Tallulah, LA. He married Marie McGough of Farmerville, LA on December 13, 1947. They spent 60 amazing love-filled years together and raised their pride and joy, John James Cosse Jr.

 

John retired from Wossman High School where he spent his days as an assistant principal and teacher. John never seemed to meet a stranger and his spirit of joy was contagious to all. He always had words of encouragement and praise. John literally left this world doing what he loved, playing golf. He was also an avid supporter of the Louisiana Tech basketball program.

 

John was preceded in death by his father James John Cosse, his mother Katina Liacopoulo, his sister Sylvia Booras and his granddaughter-in-law Amy Lynn Cosse.

 

John leaves behind his wife Marie of Calhoun, son John James Cosse Jr. and wife Susan, grandsons Michael Cosse and wife Anoland, Donald Cosse, and Christopher J.Cosse and wife Sara, all of Kansas. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Katherine Lucia Cosse and John Albert Cosse.

 

Pallbearers will be Michael Cosse, Donald Cosse, Christopher J. Cosse, Dean Xeros, Gary Collett, Kerry Tassopoulas, Chris Cosse and Jimmy Mijalis. Honorary Pallbearers are his brother-in-law and dear friend Alex Booras, Dwight McGough, Steve Cheek, Robert Harris, Emanuel Stravolemos, Alec Mijalis, Gus Mijalis, Spiro Mijalis and the Pine Hills Senior Golf Club Members. Special thanks to Dr. Don Hammett and Dr. George Smith for their excellent care and friendship.
