All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Jimmy Bryant Crossgrove - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 3, 1960 One Teenager Dies From Injuries, One Injured In Car-Motorbike Accident Two teenagers riding a motor-bike slammed into the side of a moving automobile here last Thursday, April 26, shortly before noon, fatally injuring one of them, 14-year-old Jimmy Bryant Crossgrove, Jr., a Little Boys Baseball player. The Crossgrove youth was driving when the two-wheeler collided with an auto driven by Mrs. J. A. Wall, according to reports. Ronnie Deckelman 14 was riding behind the Crossgrove boy when the accident occurred. The injured boy was rushed to a Vicksburg hospital where he died late that afternoon. His injuries included a fractured skull and arm and a collapsed lung. His companion, Ronnie Deckelman was only slightly injured and according to his mother Monday of this week, was getting along fine, but was rather sore from the bruises he received in the accident. The little Deckelman youth said his pal "looked back for just a second" before they crashed into the car. Jimmy had owned the motorbike for only about two months. The Crossgrove youth was a member of the Methodist Church and an eighth grader at Tallulah High School. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. last Friday at the Methodist Church with the Rev. William F. Mayo officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack Eley of Jonesville, La. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sarah Williams, and his stepfather, Bill Williams both of Tallulah; his father, J. B. Crossgrove, Memphis, Tenn.; his grandmother, with whom he had lived for the past 12 years, Mrs. Lela May Coleman, and a number of aunts and uncles. Pallbearers were Robert Graves, J. C. Sherwin, Harry Placke, Benny Byrd, Roy Horsman, W. C. Workman, Jesse Anderson and R. G . Waugh. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Deckelman, Chris Friis, John Sinquefield, Buster Erwin, Lynn Vanderhooght, Buddy Caldwell and the remaining members of the eighth grade.
