He was 81. Carroll was born to parents Carroll Talmadge Sr. and Frances Crow of Tallulah, Louisiana, where he grew up. He graduated from Tallulah High School and Northeast Louisiana State College in Monroe. He married Carolyn Ann Hill and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Carroll was a former high school football referee, master of the barbeque chicken and shrimp stew, and enjoyed watching college football, always rooting for the LSU Tigers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, a pastime he passed down to the younger generations. Carroll was gregarious, warm and friendly, never met a stranger, and the epitome of southern hospitality. After his retirement from Ace Hardware, he and Carolyn tasted their way across the southeast as certified KCBS judges and as part of the Louisiana Barbecue Competitors Alliance, visiting festivals and competitions far and wide. Carroll is survived by his daughter Donna Crow Huggins, and husband Houston, of Athens, Alabama; son Christopher Crow and wife Heather, of Crawfordville, Florida; son Brion Crow and wife Anne-Kathryn of Pensacola, Florida; grandson William Dixon, wife Miranda, and great-grandson Cameron Tate of Madison, Mississippi; grandson Wesley Burcham and wife Meachelle of Oxford, Mississippi; grandsons Parker, Leyton and Brinson Crow of Crawfordville; and Prosser and Katie-John Crow of Pensacola; his brother Dwain Crow and wife Diane of Lafayette, Louisiana; Sister Alice Claire Orillion and husband Rick of New Orleans, Louisiana; brother-in-law James J. Hill, Jr., of Lake Bruin; and beloved nephews, a niece, and their families. Carroll was preceded in death by the recent passing of his wife, Carolyn; and by his parents and his grandson Carson Burcham of Oxford, Mississippi. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Silver Cross Cemetery in Tallulah, Louisiana.
