All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Mildred Eleanor Piper Dahlhauser - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Fort Dodge, Iowa Messenger December 1, 2007 WEST BEND — Mildred Eleanor Piper was born in Wellsville, Missouri, on March 9, 1916, to Max and Nelle Piper. Later the family moved to Tallulah, Louisiana, where she graduated first in her class from Tallulah High School. She met Henry Dahlhauser in Tallulah and they were united in marriage in Whittemore, Iowa, on December 26, 1940. They lived in West Bend their entire married lives where Henry operated a welding and machine shop and she was a housewife helping raise five children and doing book work for the business. They retired in 1977. Mildred was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend and also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Sts. Peter and Paul Ladies Aid. She enjoyed reading and singing in the church choir. She and Henry entered the West Bend Care Center in June of 1995. Henry passed away on February 14, 1997. Mildred passed away on November 30, 2007, at the care center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in West Bend, with Father Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will follow in the West Bend Cemetery with the Harris Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Church where a rosary will be recited by the CD of A at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Casket bearers are: Michael Dahlhauser, Philip Dahlhauser, Steven Dahlhauser, Wes Dahlhauser, Bruce Dahlhauser, Lisa Dahlhauser, Patrick Sampson and Gary Sampson. Survivors include sons Max, Tim, Eugene (Diane) of West Bend and Charlie (Sharon) of Algona and daughter Betty (Brent) Sampson of Lincoln, Neb. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. Two brothers, Cecil Piper of Enfield, Conn., Donald Piper of Memphis, Tenn., two sisters, Elizabeth Dahlhauser, Urbandale, Iowa, and Virginia Claytor of Columbia, S.C., and many nieces and nephews also mourn her passing. Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry, her parents, two brothers, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
