Maurice " Moe" David - Madison Parish, Louisiana
Tallulah, LA January 2026
Funeral services for Maurice " Moe" David, 90 of Tallulah,
LA will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the
chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi, LA with
Rev. Scott Wilson and Rev. Jody Farrell officiating. Special remarks by Yvonne
Lewis, Mayor of Tallulah LA.
Visitation will be held at Cox Funeral Home on Monday January 19 from 5:00 PM
until 9:00 PM.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Northeast Louisiana Veteran's
Cemetery in Rayville, LA.
Mr. David was born on December 6, 1935, in Gueydan, LA and
left this earthly realm at his home on Wednesday January 14, 2026, peacefully
surrounded by his family.
Moe, as he was known by family and friends, was an avid fisherman, hunter,
carpenter, and Cajun cook. His specialties were gumbo, jambalaya, and sauce
piquante. He was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help anyone
in need. He stepped into the role of raising and providing for several children
that were not biologically his, showing selfless love. His legacy lives on
through the lives he shaped and the family he chose to love.
Maurice is preceded in death by his parents Alpha Joseph David and Elize
Lavergne David, by his 2nd wife Audrey J. David and the mother of his children,
Lillie; a son Leonard Wilson and by nine siblings Louie, Wilfred and Wilson
David, Hilda Saunders, Wilda Lutz, Anna Mae Albardo, Adless Chaisson, Laurus
Salyers and Hazel George.
He is survived by four children; Darrell Wilson and wife Kim, Scott Wilson and
wife Kathy; Jody Farrell and wife Faye and Talisa David Greer and husband Craig
and a Daughter-in-Law, Linda Wilson.
Maurice is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Amy Bennett and husband Mickey,
Stephanie Huddleston and husband Stephen, Tray Wilson and wife Misty, Dana
Branning and husband Mack, Jay Wilson, Sara Richmond and husband Roger,
Jonathan Wilson and wife Amanda, Katelyn Wilson, Shannon Wilson and wife
Brooke, Andrea Johnson and husband Brandon, Rayna Farrell, Kaden Vallery and
Michael Greer and wife Samantha. 21 great-grandchildren and 13
great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jay Wilson, Mark David, Michael Greer, Kaden Vallery, James
Breaux and Todd David.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Freddie Carter, Bill Tate and Frank Nix.
The family would also like to express gratitude to Mrs. Sharon Fletcher for her
caregiving in the final days of Maurice's life.
A special appreciation to his daughter, Talisa and son-in-law, Craig for
opening their home and providing continual care to Maurice for the past 13
years.
