Davis - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal September 3, 1965 Funeral Services Held Thursday For J. W. Davis Funeral services for James W. Davis, 69, who died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at his home here were held at 10 A. M. Thursday at the Tallulah Church of Christ with Dr. Rudolph Hunt officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was a native of Mississippi and had been a resident of Madison Parish for over 40 years. Before his retirement, he was a bookkeeper in two area cotton gins. He was a member of the Tallulah Church of Christ, American Legion and past commander, member of the Forty and Eight and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Craig Davis, a daughter, Mrs. Joe M. Clark, Tallulah and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Maxwell Yerger, A. N. Duke, Dr. H. S. Provine, R. C. Todd, Phil Grimes, Rufus Yerger and M. A. Wroten.
