All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************** Sock Dawson Sr.- Madison Parish, Louisiana About 1852 to 8/22/1938 From Madison Journal, Tallulah, LA September 2, 1938 The last rites for Sock Dawson Sr.,86, who died Monday evening, August 22 were held Wednesday from Mt. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of which he was a devout member for 45 years. Revs. D. W. Whitney, L. H. Henderson and H. S. Moore, pastor, officiated. He leaves a daughter, Fannie Skipper, of Mansford Plantation; six sons, Willis, of Tallulah, Parker, Sock, Jr., and Isaac, of Mansford, John W. and Roosevelt of Chicago; 33 grand children, 35 great grand children and one great, great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. At one time he was one of the leading farmers of the parish and highly respected by his many white and colored friends. Interment was in Mansford Cemetery.
