Muriel John Deckard, 76, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his home in
Tallulah, Louisiana. He was born November 23, 1949, in Delhi, Louisiana, to
Muriel and Belva Haddox Deckard.
Muriel and his wife, Rebecca, made their home in Tallulah where they
raised their two children. He worked as a welding inspector for Ergon, retiring
after 30 plus years. He was a perfectionist at his job. Muriel liked to hunt,
and his hobby was making knives. His greatest love was his children and
grandchildren. They meant everything to him.
Muriel is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Rebecca
Coody Deckard; his granddaughter, Alexis Knight; and his brother-in-law,
William “Bill” Coody. He is survived by his son, Kyle Deckard (Hope Brown);
daughter, Jennifer Knight; grandchildren, Addison Knight, Trey Harold, Breanna
Deckard, Annalise Deckard, and Benjiman Deckard; brother, Wayne Deckard (Mary);
sisters, Ernestine Newell and Lorine Arnold (Gerald); brother-in-law, Robert
Coody; and sisters-in-law, Edna Hearn, Rena Bolton, Brenda Henley, and Carolyn
Coody.
A memorial service for Muriel will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 9,
2026, at Richmond Community Center.
