All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ William Major DeMoss Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, June 16, 1977 Funeral services for William Major DeMoss Sr., 57, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Ned Stout officiating. Burial followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mr. DeMoss died early Sunday in a hospital in Monroe after an illness. He was born and reared in Richland Parish and had been a resident of Tallulah for 18 years. He had been president of the Tallulah Production Credit Association for seven years, having been connected with the firm for 31 years. A veteran of World War II, Mr. DeMoss was active in the Tallulah Rotary Club and the American Legion. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife Mrs. Mary Cheek DeMoss of Tallulah; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Jo Reeves, and Mrs. Kaye Jennings, both of Monroe; Mrs. Alyce Roper of Tallulah, and Mrs. Mary Beth Lee of Houston, Tex.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joyce DeMoss Lapenas of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Helen O'Connor of Delhi and Mrs. Katherine Williams of Springerville, Ariz. and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Bowles, J. H. Bryant, Rufus Yerger Jr., Phillip Scurria, Sr. Maurice Ursery, Devonne Bullock, Bobby Joe Lee and G. C. Freiler. Honorary pallbearers were the board of directors and staff of the Tallulah Production Credit Association.
