"Jake" Dillard - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 2, 1997 Funeral services for Mr. J. C. "Jake" Dillard, age 70, of Tallulah, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 1997, in Crothers-Glenwood Funera1 Home Chapel with the Rev. Rushing officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah. Mr. Dillard died Sunday night, June 29, 1997, in the Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah after a lengthy illness. He was born in Rayville, La., and had lived in Tallulah for 49 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS St. Louis. He was a retired employee of the Tallulah Compress Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Leona "Ted" Dillard of Tallulah; two daughters, Charlene Nichols of Vinton, La., and Arlene Mathis of Vicksburg, Miss.; one sister, Dorothy Maxwell of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Belton Dillard of Monroe, La., and Thomas Dillard of Rayville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Tim Mitchell, Muriel Green, Lamar Clack, Norman Ratcliff, Earl Johnson, Billy Allen, Clyne Elledge and Michael Dill. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Paul Pierce, Dr. John Fagan, James Still, George McKee and all the medical staff of Vicksburg Medical Center. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
