All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ John Thomas Farr - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Greenville NC Daily Reflector, May 31, 2007 GRIMESLAND - Mr. John Thomas Farr, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mr. Farr, a native of Little Rock, graduated from Tallulah High School in Tallulah, La. Upon completion he served his country as a Special Forces member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He became a resident of Pitt County in 1968 and attended Pitt Community College majoring in law enforcement. After serving in local law enforcement he was employed and retired from Gregory Poole Heavy Equipment Company, as well as operating his own business John Farr Trucking, working with Green Arrow Motor Express. Recently he was Mayor Protem of Grimesland, was a member of the Grimesland Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. #475, and a deacon at the Proctor Memorial Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Farr Sr., and Florence Farr; and brothers Louis Jr. and David Farr. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Hodges Farr of 37 years; daughter, Johnna Farr Cooke and husband Brian; grandsons, Zachary, Jonathan, and Darren Cooke; sisters, Lila Varner of Tallulah, La., Marguerite Waldren of Little Rock, and Vera Lee Waldren of Woodson, Ark. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home tonight from 6 Ð 8. A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, "DA" reminded us all that love is better given than received and children are its most deserving recipients.
