All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Martha William Florence - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 15, 1960 Local Resident Dies Following Lingering Illness Final rites for Mrs. Martha William Florence, 92, who died Tuesday following a lingering illness at the home of her daughter Mrs. J. N. Couch was Thursday at 10 P. M. Services were held at the Montrose Baptist Church with the Rev. Herman Savoie, pastor officiating. Interment followed in Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Mrs. Florence is a native of Newton Country, Miss, She moved to Louisiana in 1900 and with the exception of a couple years with her daughter Mrs. I. J. Maxwell of Bastrop she made her home in Madison Parish. She is the widow of the late Thomas C. Florence. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons. Otis Florence, Tallulah and Ollie and Lonnie Florence both of Fayette, Miss; four daughters, Mrs. J. S. Floyd, Tendal, Mrs. J. N. Couch, Tallulah, Mrs. T. L. Clement Transylvania, and Mrs. I. J. Maxwell Bastrop, 43 grandchildren, 117 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers were all grandsons, John Nash Lewis, Ray Florence, Gus Couch, Edward Parker, Lewis Clement, Lloyd Clement, Billy Couch and Warren Hopkins.
