Floyd - Madison Parish, Louisiana From The Tallulah Madison Journal (LA), September 23, 1932 YOUTH IS KILLED BY ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGED GUN J. W. Floyd Is Killed By Raiford Reeves Saturday J. W. Floyd, 18-year old youth of Madison parish, was killed Saturday afternoon about five o'clock by Raiford Reeves, 16, while both were hunting in the woods about 5 miles south of Waverly near the new gravel road. It was stated that Reeves stumbled and accidentally discharged his gun, at which time Floyd exclaimed, "I'm shot." Reeves, it is said, was so excited that he had difficulty in finding Floyd, when returning to the scene of the accident after having gone for assistance.. When the location was found, Floyd was dead. Funeral services for Floyd were conducted Sunday afternoon by the Rev. H. N. Alexander, at the Stout cemetery, south of Delhi, where interment took place. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Floyd, who reside south of Waverly in the ninth (probably eighth) ward, and several brothers and sisters, and other relatives.
