All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Clint Fortenberry - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post July 24, 2008 TRANSYLVANIA, La. - Funeral services for Clint Fortenberry of Transylvania, La., will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Transylvania Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Eagles officiating. Interment will be at the Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Lake Providence. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Cox Funeral Home. Mr. Fortenberry was born July 26, 1933, in Forest, La., and died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in West Monroe. He was a lifelong farmer who, following retirement, continued to advise and assist his son, David, in his farming operation. Mr. Fortenberry was currently serving as an auxiliary deputy with the East Carroll Sheriff's Department. He also was a legendary supporter of the Briarfield Academy and Tallulah Academy athletic programs. He served as girls' basketball coach at Tallulah Academy in 1970s and was often asked for coaching advice by younger coaches. Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ezell Fortenberry; his grandsons, Justin Fortenberry and Wade Fortenberry; his parents, Fount and Angie Fortenberry; his brothers, Quitman, Ray, F.E., Elton and Bent Fortenberry; and his sisters, Bradis Johnson, Dee Shores and Short Fairchild. Survivors include his children, Lynne Grady and husband Whoop of Tallulah, David Fortenberry and wife Debbie of Transylvania, Danna Gillett and husband Doug of Rayville, Laura Sevier and husband Billy of Sondheimer and Liz Roland of Transylvania and friend Kevin Fillebaum of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Sarah Fortenberry Holt and husband Tim of Lake Providence, Emily Gillett Becnel and husband Steven of Franklinton, John Roland of Transylvania, Britt Grady of Monroe, Carly Gillett of Rayville, Chelsea Johnson of Transylvania, Alli Roland of Vicksburg, Katie Grady of Tallulah and Mary Beth Roland of Transylvania; great-grandchild, Miller Holt of Lake Providence; and brothers, Quinton Fortenberry and Earl Fortenberry of Transylvania. Pallbearers will be Lee Michael Fairchild, Terry Lynn Jones, Dennis Fortenberry, Roger Knight, Buford Fortenberry and Neil Martin. Honorary pallbearers are I.T. Crothers, Lance Prine and East Carroll Parish sheriff's deputies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Briarfield and Tallulah Academy Athletic Associations, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
