All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Joseph Peter Foster Sr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Post September 13, 2006 TRANSYLVANIA, La. - Joseph Peter Foster Sr. died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 81. Mr. Foster was born in St. Paul, Minn., and had lived in Louisiana since 1932. He was a resident of Transylvania, La. He served in the Army in World War II in the European Theater. He had worked as a farmer, mechanic, truck driver and ginner and was a member of Melbourne Baptist Church, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher, song leader and deacon. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Hilary Foster. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Hilma O. Smith Foster; two sons, Johnny Foster of West Monroe, La., and Joseph Peter Foster Jr. of Ruston, La.; three daughters, Olga F. Butler and Pamela F. Essex, both of Tallulah, and Myra F. Bolton of Bentonville, Ark.; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Melbourne Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Howard and Butch Goodman officiating. Visitation was from 10 until noon today at the church. Pallbearers will be Tyler J. DeRossette, Ed Rushing, James Oscar Thornton, Joseph P. Foster III, Michael Joseph Essex, Chris Thornton and Mitchell Vaughan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry King, Wayne King, Rod Stone, Sonny Muse and Melvin Rushing. Memorials may be made to Melbourne Baptist Church.
