Franks - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, March 23, 1951 Dr. Samuel J. Franks Succumbs At Age of 85, Sunday Morning Dr. Samuel J. Franks, optometrist in Tallulah the past 33 years, succumbed Sunday morning at 2:30 in a Vicksburg hospital, where he had been a patient since December 21st. He was 85 years of age. A native of Poland, Dr. Franks first moved to Albany, Indiana, where he became very successful in the mercantile business. Following the mercantile business he moved to New York City, where he studied optometry, and moved to Tallulah 33 years ago, being active in that profession until a short time prior to his death. His body was shipped by Young's Funeral Home of Tallulah to Meyers Funeral Home, Louisville, Ky., where funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock with Rabbi Soloman officiating. Interment followed in the Abraham Cemetery. Dr. Franks is survived by one son, Theodore Franks, three grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces, all of Louisville, Ky.
