All rights reserved. ************************************************ Agnes Smith Freeman - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Kinston (NC) Free Press May 12, 2004 Agnes Smith Freeman, 91, was born in Lexington, Ky., Feb. 10, 1913, to parents the Rev. and Mrs. James Power Smith Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin C. Freeman; special nephew, Billy Smith Jr.; two sisters, Anne Rose, and Elizabeth Wright; and brother, Bill Smith. She was valedictorian of the graduating class of Tallulah High School, in Tallulah, La., and received the outstanding senior award from Flora MacDonald College. She was a lifelong teacher and administrator in North Carolina public schools in Jacksonville, Stokesdale, Gibsonville and Kinston. She was retired from the Kinston-Lenoir County public school system and was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Kinston. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jonathan Wallace officiating. A private graveside service will follow. Survivors include a sister, Margaret Smith Daughtry; niece, Becky Rose Williams; seven nephews, John and Gordon Daughtry, Terry, Danny and Michael Smith, and Jim and Joe Rose Jr. Visitation will be immediately follow the service in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Heritage St. , Kinston, NC 28504, or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Edwards Funeral Home.
