William Ellis Fuller - Madison Parish, Louisiana
January 9, 1940 ~ April 3, 2023 - 93 Years Old

From Pointe Coupee Reporter New Roads, LA April 5, 2023

William Ellis Fuller of New Roads passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023 at the age of 93. He was born January 9, 1930 in Tallulah, Louisiana, growing up in Delhi, to the parents of Leon Stiles Fuller and Mary McCoy and siblings, Leon and Dorothy. He graduated from Tallulah High School in 1948.

His three surviving children are Sandra Currier and husband, Brad, of New Roads, William Michael Fuller and wife, Stacy, of New Roads, Craig Fuller of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and his four granddaughters, Doughty Varnedoe, Courtney Wilson, Ashley Mullens, and Megan Frye; and seven great-grandchildren.

Known to all his friends and family as Bill, he had a long career in the Air Force from which he retired. He traveled extensively while serving as a mechanic in the military, to such places as Japan, Guam, Labrador, and Morocco, just to name a few. He retired honorably from Barksdale Air Force Base ranking as Master Sergeant.

After his retirement, Bill purchased over 200 acres in Logansport, built a house, and raised a herd of cows for many years. He then relocated to Shreveport where he spent time refurbishing vintage cars, while embracing the golf course community lifestyle, which eventually brought him to New Roads.

He became a skilled wood carpenter and was an avid golfer his entire life. He established many lifelong friends on and off the golf course, gifted most of his hand-crafted furniture to loved ones, and was never without the companionship of a dog in his lap. He was also always good at hosting a crawfish boil at his home.

A service of remembrance will be held at First Baptist Church of New Roads, 824 West Main Street on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 1:00 pm. For expressions of condolences, please consider a donation to First Baptist Church of New Roads.
